'Flood Abatement Plan'
Here, we present our comprehensive flood abatement plan for the City of Montpelier, Vermont, in answer to the fears that the Ice in the river will jam, causing a back up that will flood downtownCall to action
12 March, 2007 Whereas, there is a high risk of destructive flooding due to the length and depth of the ice frozen in the Winooski, and Whereas, this creates a likelihood of upstream ice jamming near Montpelier High School, creating an effective dam and subsequent backup of river water into the main of downtown, we issue the following Call To Action for the residents of Central Vermont!
This is a call for every able-bladdered Man, Woman, and Child to answer their civic responsibilities and take the following steps:
- Imbibe copious amounts of the beverage of your choice.
- Keep going until you simply MUST relieve yourself.
- Drink some more...
- Run, don't walk (unless you run the risk of leakage) to the nearest bridge over a branch of the Winooski.
- Commence to relieve yourself in a manner such that the stream is directed into the waters of the river ('warming'), or onto the ice directly ('drilling').
- Repeat.
